Forgetting what's important
It's easy to forget what's important... I've felt lately like I've lost my jewellery designing mojo and that everything I've made has not been quite up to scratch. I've been making designs so that they're new and different, but I've forgotten exactly why I started making jewellery. My Mum and I were looking through her jewellery box, picking out a chain to go with my Granny's pendant that I'm going to be wearing at my wedding (in four days). I remembered that I started making jewellery because of my jewellery addiction - at one point I'd buy something new from Accessorize every week. I think I'd forgotten that I was at my best when I was making things that I wanted to keep, and so that's what I'm going to start doing. Making jewellery for me, because that's when I pay the most attention to detail, that's when things come out great. Crafting for commercial purposes can be calculated, especially when you feel like you need to produce something that will be popular, something that you won't necessarily like. Crafting should really be about doing something that you love. I think I'm going to make something soon :)
